Support for construction of three tourist boats.

It makes the beneficiary highly self-dependent and the large inflow of tourist will certainly help them to form a federation generating more employment.

It had been their ancestral occupation. It will create a healthy social and economic environment.

The beneficiaries selected are below the poverty line and had no occupation.

The construction work has been started and it will give livelihood to 9 families and also revive a tourist spot, a island called Hookitola. At a later stage, it has been planned to renovate the building at Hookitola (after a meeting with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture)

Ground work done for providing a stall to OTFWU for selling seafood.

Assistance will be provided for a period of one year and then it will be taken care of by the different fish workers societies.

It will raise the economic status of the fishing societies of six districts.

Providing a market and strengthening the market change gives them a permanent livelihood option

We will be providing financial assistance to the Orrisa traditional Fishworkers Union to open a stall for Sea Food at Bhubaneswar. The market chain will involve the fishermen from six districts namely Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Gamjam. It will generate livelihood to 12 persons and hundreds will be indirectly benefited through the market chain.

The resource mapping helped in formulation of the programs but it didn’t come up to the expected level as the components of poverty analysis were not induced properly.

Computer Centre at Kharinasi with support from Microsoft.

This intervention will lead to taking up higher level of soft ware education and also generating possibilities of employment.

It will change the social dynamics into positive goal as the youth will be engaged in a constructive learning.

We are selecting poor but meritorious youth of the area.

The objective of opening the computer centre is to reach underserved community especially the unemployed youth and train them in basic computer literacy in collaboration with Microsoft corporation. The passing certificates will be given by Microsoft Corporation. The annual intake of the course is of 80 trainees. The course will essentially prepare the trainees for taking up low skill employment and also for higher-level software education. The community has provided the place for the commencement of the centre – scheduled to be open in the last week of this May ’09.

Process of selection of 5 girls of the area for CHP training.

This will again open up enormous job opportunity, as there is great demand of nurses and health workers in the present time.

It will uplift them socially as well as economically.

Econonomically backward but Econonomically backward but meritorious girls of the area will be selected.

The information and circular for the same has been shared with the President OTFWU and the community.We will be sending 5 girls from Gahirmatha area to undergo the Community Health Workers training at Jamshedpur to be starting from June 2009.

Ground work done for the opening of 12 Academic support centres.

The Centres have a proper exit plan.

Quality education/ grade specific learning will certainly create a competitive environment.

It will give employment to 12 educated youth of the respective village who will be teaching in the centre.

Procurement of classroom infrastructure like black board, sitting mattress, toilet repairing etc.

It’s a part of Academic support centre.

Such works are beneficial for the entire community and give long-term services.

Training on fishery will be a capacity building exercise for the fishermen community. We will be doing 3 trainings on the said issue.

Organization of Sports, cultural and co-curricular events at school and block level.

We are linking this to Academic Support Centres, which will be a kind of interaction for the students of different schools.
